Idea Paint - Live Art

FullSizeRender.jpg

For the third year running I have had the pleasure of working with Ideapaint, a company who supply global brands with the ability to put pen to walls. Ideas come thick and fast in workplaces full of innovators. With this genius solution, ideas can be captured, developed and shared, right there and then. Ideapaint provide a range of wall paint solutions, some magnetised, with pens and folding tables too. I was first asked back in 2015 if I could design a mural for their showroom at the Clerkenwell design week

The first mural (above) was designed around the concept ‘an image is worth a thousand words’. Additionally, i wanted to represent the journey of an idea from concept to creation, so I created three elements to show this. The first was the lettering which enters the eye, this then follows on to a scientific map of the rods and cones in the eye. The second element was the ‘eureka’ moment with the text and an explosion of shapes. The third was the journey of he idea into products, technical and logistics.

The second mural was created at Clerkenwell Design Week 2017 and featured a three element evolution of the act of drawing. Beginning with the cave man, chiselling stone, following on to a medieval / Tudor style gent with quill and ink, finally finishing with the modern day man and Ideapaint product.

The design created for Clerkenwell Design Week 2018 was a request from the Ideapaint team to create a skyline of London City. As the piece was to be created live during the week, I proposed asking the public to request their favourite locations and I would select some from the list and integrate them. As I finished each of the requests, I would photograph and tag them on Instagram. This was great as not only did it create engagement with the show goers but it also generated extra traffic and exposure to the Ideapaint social media streams. Win win.

Fingers crosses I’ll be back in 2019.
